They've been back for a few weeks now already...I always love to hear their cheerful song during early spring!

Canon 7D + 500mm f4 II, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/400s., f/5, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, FF, darkened pupil, a few distracting specular highlights in the BG foliage removed (it was a bit dewy that morning).

Very nice Daniel. He gave you a nice perch that allowed an unobstructed view, in nice light.

Beautiful image Daniel, wonderful exposure and I love the oof pines in the BG. Strange look to the tail feathers, is that needle sticking up through the tail feathers?

    Daniel:

Lovely soft backlight, love the repetition of the needles from the perch into the BG, interesting bg without being distracting.

I could see a sliver off the right, and another version with the blue overstamped with green.

    Cheers

Lovely setting with the oof pines behind and pine perch Daniel. Sharp detail and nice eye as well, probably work nicely in a vertical as well.

Not necessary a crit, but is the slightly darker, slightly sooty tone behind the birds eye natural or was the burn tool used there ?

Thanks guys! Phil, that is this fella's natural colouration. Jack, yes indeed that is a pine needle poking through its tail feathers :-)

Great perch and love the dof and background Daniel. Great to hear them singing away at this time of year.

Hi Dan, fantastic IQ, and just love the light. The little fellow certainly gave you a great pose, and I do like the perch and BG. Good DOF and sharpness on both the perch and sparrow.

    Congrats on your new toy.
