I feel so lucky to have spent a couple days with this guy, it was my first experience with a Great Gray ... I was in awe of this one.

I like the pose and excellent details at high ISO. I think this works better in a vert. I would slightly increase brightness on the owl as well

I like the details, sharpness and exposure. I would go vertical on this one as well. Well done Amy.

Very nice Amy, a bit brighter and agree with the vertical crop as suggested.

Nice details, sharpness and IQ, Amy. As suggested, a vertical crop would be better.

This gives me courage to use high ISO on my D800, excellent detail, love the BG and agree with the vertical crop.

Amazing details for a high ISO. Lovely portrait but wishing for a vertical or different crop. Would sharpen head just a little more.

Hi Amy, seems like you guys are spoilt with sighting of this wonderful looking owl up your way. Great stare, and we have a good view of the face. Love the winter BG too. Another vote for a vertical version.

I love the lighting and pattern of the bird and those yellow eyes are great. The background nicely compliments the Owl Amy.

Thanks for the responses, I added a vertical crop of this to my files. The suggestions are appreciated!
