Early morning light, Roseate Spoonbill fledgling.
Fledgling Roseate Spoonbills differ from the adults in these ways:
Fledglings have black eyes, adults have red eyes.
Fledglings have feathers on their head, adults do not.
    Fledglings have light blue lores.
Fledglings have black tips on some of their primary feathers.
Fledglings are white and pastel pink, adults are primarily white and red with orange and yellow parts.

Wonderful image James, beautifully composed and I just love the contrast between the subject and the blue water. Since this is a critique site I did notice the white area above the shoulder is a tad hot with the red channel showing a reading of 255.

    Don,
It could very well be. It was 250 before the .jpg compression and conversion to sRGB.

Just lovely James in many respects, such lovely soft quality of light and sharp detail, I very much like the way/mood in which you have captured the eye, it has the look of total innocence as a juvenile or child would portray...sweet as sir ! The satin water texture works in nicely and it blends into the backdrop beautifully. The only slight possible room for improvement may be the hotter white region in front of the wing...but it's maybe just my monitor and hardly detracts from the other stunning qualities in this one.....it has me mesmerized

    James:

A knockout! Sweet as can be, lovely light, water, pose.

I do agree about the whites going a bit hot on the shoulder with the posted image.

    Marvelous.

    Cheers

There is a severeness to this image which I really like. The pinks and blues go so well together. Love the feel of this one.
