That was one impressive place! Love the banking pose from above and the implied movement of the wings.

Technically nice, but it just doesn't click with me. I think it's the quality of light that has the top of the head very bright compared to the rest of the bird and scene being subdued. Nice job getting the head sharp.

Action and head sharpness is really good, but the light could perhaps have been a bit better(?)

    great photo!

being about 7 hours drive from my home on the west coast of NL, i had never made the journey to Cape St. Mary's. i finally spent some time at the Cape last summer and i'll never forget the smell! 3 miles out and it was almost overwhelming! but then again, i was almost overwhelmed with the first site of 'bird rock'! simply incredible...the equivalent of a sky rise apartent building for birds.

i learned a valuable lesson at CSM about shooting in manual mode instead of relying on metering, as the dark cliffs and contrasting sky/sea makes for auto metering nightmares!

great capture here. i really do like this one and it's almost painterly effect. at first i thought the image was a little dark but the more i look the more i like!

Fabs, you've traveled to NL before?

Great shot Alfred. I hope to go back when there is not as much fog.
