My first offering to this board. Curlew shot in nice light. I thought of passing on this shot as I did not like the grasses in the bg.

D-lighting and a little clean up of stray vegitation in the water.

Lovely color palette and detail! Would like to see a portrait version, or maybe just not so square?

Hello Robert, welcome to ETL! I really like this image, not too concerned about the slight green bit under the bill because the bird looks great and forgives this minor distraction IMO. Excellent exposure, detail, and color rendition. Nice sharp eye too. I would suggest a crop from the bottom, as the reflection is not whole and doesn't add anything to the composition. Very nice, look forward to more!

    Thanks Jim,
I Agree .about it being too square.. I got a little distracted, resizing for the web.
    Thanks for the comments

Lots to like in this, the soft lightimng and pastel color tones blurring nicely into the backdrop, love the glassy water with just a hint of ripples. Posture of bird is lovely, especially with lifted leg. My only thought was to make it less square, the reflection doesn't do enough on the this image to keep it in so I feel cropping off the bottom mostly and cloning out some of the water imperfections would improve as below

Welcome Robert! Lovely light and colors as others have mentioned. I think Phil's repost works better. Nicely done.

Hi Robert- absolutely wonderful in every respect. Beautiful light and a nice, "easy" sharpness.
