So for the marsh harriers I was photographing (see previous post) I couldn't get close enough for really good pictures (with my 300mm + 1.4 conv) But i wanted to photograph this birds anyhow, so I thought of how i could photograph them with the limited range I have. So with more space in the frame, but there had to be something of the environment and some atmosphere. With this in mind I figured to photograph them against the light when the sun was setting, to get something different than normal. This is the result for now.
Love the feel and mood of this one, and I really like what you were going for. The bird is nicely placed in the frame and love the color and the grasses which are lit. I feel the ones in the lower right are a bit bright. I think I would try to tone down that one spot bottom right which is really overpowering to my eyes. Well seen and executed.
I like this image alot. I like the placement of the bird and the setting. My suggestion would be to add some contrast so the darks pop more and have less of the red glow as the lighter areas if that makes any sense
