Taken at Clifford E. Lee Nature Sanctuary, Parkland County, Alberta, Canada. There was a feeder setup directly below the perch. Did some clean up (removing some OOF branches) on the background; removed the extra catchlight from the flash.

    Canon EOS 5D2 | Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS + Kenko 1.4x Teleplus PRO 300 DGX + Canon Extender EF 1.4x II
    Manual mode, 1/1600 sec., f/8, ISO 400, E-TTL Flash with Better Beamer @ -2

    All C&Cs are welcome!

    Thanks,
    Raymond

Great image, especially with the use of stacked teleconverters. A really nice clean back ground to. Although I don't consider myself an expert, my only comment is really with the perch lacking a bit of interest. Other than that, a cracking image and wish it was one of mine.

Excellent bird nice image, Raymond. I tried your stacked extenders for BIF and it worked well. Thanks for the tip.

I'm with Mike on the perch, but overall it's well done.

Thanks! The perch above was a natural perch off the tree. There was a thinner perch setup half a meter below the bird, but the bird didn't like it, and the angle was not so great IMHO.

No problem! I think it works pretty well, and I've got various BIFs (from raptors to songbirds) with very little issues. The quality is just as good as a straight 2x TC.

    Cheers,
    Raymond

Admittedly the broken perch catches my eye a little, perhaps darken the brighter area a little. Bird is nicely posed and like the light hitting the beak, it certainly shows well where it gets it name from. The bird does look just a little soft and a little grainy, but still some nice detail showing through so quite acceptable as is
