Hi Rachel, a nice, yet simple portrait of this classic African animal. Looks like you got your IQ back on this one.Might suggest in going for a slightly tighter crop, although I'm not sure if the inclusion of the 'impala?' adds or not? Great to have good light to shoot in, offering nice techs.

Thanks Steve, I did look at tighter crops including your favorite 16x9 but somehow I felt they lost the feeling of weariness and the long walk for water. Happy to be persuaded otherwise though. And see the 7D can produce good IQ images.
Thanks,
Rachel
Very nice indeed love the colour range, I agree in decent light the &D is very good indeed so long as there is someone capable behind it.
Two minor critiques for me, I would take some off the base, I don't think it adds or dramatises the weariness, an even smaller issue, I would clone the grey tree trunk on the centre left border.
Thanks Jonathan, as a general rule I try not to clone except for dust spots or specular highlights but I can crop it to get rid of the trunk.
Thanks again,
Rachel
Hi Rachel,
First thing I thought when I saw this image was "that zebra that looks absolutely exhausted..!", so I guess you have honestly conveyed that to me before I read it..Well done. I too would ask for the LH tree not to be included and maybe some off the base but its not a biggie for me..
thanks for sharing.
DON
Thanks Don. Here's a repost with the crop everyone suggested.
Thanks again,
Rachel
IMHO the RP works well and having the two impala in the BKD adds to the content & scene.
If you have the time, see what happens if you tweak the Levels and add your favourite mask set to 50%.

Thanks Steve, will do but I probably will not rp again.
Rachel
Repost looks real good Rachel and I'm glad you kept the two impalas up top. Interesting to see how white/clean the legs are in comparison to the rest of the body.
I was going to suggest a tighter crop myself then I read on a little and I get your point. I then looked at the repost and I do find the repost more appealing and effective. I still get the weary feeling even without the extra space. Didnt even notice the impala till it was mentioned but a nice extra to the image.
Thanks Steve and Cheryl, much appreciated.
Hi Rachel, I do feel the RP is stronger...and the 7D is looking good..! DON
Nice trudging moment here Rachel.
I prefer the RP, and I like the inclusion of the "springboks" (there's your ID, Steve)
Loving the Etosha colours. I might be doing a quick trip up there soon, watch this space![]()
Thanks again everybody, and Morkel is of course correct. They are springboks in the bg, not impala.
Thanks again,
Rachel
Had to take a stab at something Rachel, Morkel don't I get a prize for at least spotting it was an antelope?

Steve - I think we can give partial credit especially since you haven't been to Etosha. If you have been to Etosha then your default answer would probably be springbok because they are all over the place. Although Etosha does have the rarer black-faced impala. In Greater Kruger area, my default answer when in doubt would be impala.
Rachel
Great IQ from a very harsh destination :)
