I created this photograph at Ft. Desoto 4/6/2013 @ 12:24 PM . The sun was bright and wind was blowing(But not as bad as the day before ,when there was sea foam ) . I did a lot of work removing shadows ,removed some grass from in front of the bird . Blurred the Bg ,and did some eye Dr. work. I know I was not Photographing at a good hour ,but It was my Mom's Birthday ,SO, I suggested we have Her party- at the St. Park. (Snicker-Snicker) And I couldn't get the family to meet at sunrise. Sometimes you just take what you can get . EXIF- Camera is D90 ,Exposure-1/1000,Aperture-f/6.3, Focal length-500mm, ISO-400, no flash used. Processed with ACR &Cs6. My CC is (After I look at it several days after processing ) I think more room at the bottom and right side would help .And better light quality would have helped ,But I think it is in the Ball-park ? One Question I do have for John (Or anyone for that matter ) I see "Tri-colored Herons" posted on the web with blue bills as well as pink like this one .Are they both Tri-colored or is one actually of a different name?

The harsh sun was your enemy in this shot, but you already know that and I think the head region is a little bright and overall the bird looks a little soft.

Just a slight highlight tweak and use of burn tool can help a little, but overall better to shoot in better light
