    Calling crane amongst the grasses. I just loved the sound these birds made.

    1D MK4, 700mm, 1/2000 @ 8, ISO 400, Manual Mode.

    Tom:

    I really like the vertical/tall grasses with this tall bird, with this pose. The tallest plant on the left of the frame helps balance the bird.

    I could see a version with the bird moved just a bit to the right in the frame, because of his head angle.

    Nicely exposed, open bill/calling pose very good.

    I am blessed to have these guys flying around my house during the summer months. Always great fun to hear that most distinctive call.

    I like those grasses and what look like dead plants. Have lots of pixels to work with so might crop tighter.

    Love love the vegetation in this image, and it works so well with the calling pose and the vertical presentation! Agree on moving the bird to the right. If it were mine, I would take some off of the right and bottom, and add to the top if you have the space in the original. Well done!
