Hi guys, I'm getting better by the day now and can make it through the day without pain meds. Yay!

I think burrowing owls have some of the best eyes in the bird world, and I had some images of this little guy peeking over a hill. I used the oil paint filter in PS (sure glad they kept that one), a canvas texture on the owl, and Topaz Remask. The quote is very fitting. Sounds like something Yoda would've said, and that's consistent with the view of space. I like that there's only a faint outline of the owl so that it almost fades into the darkness. I also like the view into space, but I'd be inclined to darken the midtones and lighter elements in the background so they're not competing with the eyes of the owl.

Kerry, a terriffic piece. The milky way makes a great BG for the nocturnal owls. Oil paint filter is in CS5 and 6? I will have to look. The eyes are just amazing on this - & excellent job blending the images.

    Glad you are feeling better!

Thanks everyone! John, in CS5 you have to install the pixel bender engine and filters. In CS6 the pixel bender support was eliminated, but the oil paint filter is retained as a native filter.

How wonderful that you can go through the day without pain meds! A step forward. The owl is fabulous. I love those eyes--I could get lost in them. The effects you used are perfect. I like the position of the owl--slightly to the right. I'm not so fond of the bg as it seems to clash with the owl. Just my view. Great work.
