    Its rare to encounter a bird that lets you get close onaff to make a portrait.

    A very colorful bird, Alexander. Good head angle and background. I like the food dangling from its beak. You might experiment with cropping a bit more from the left.

    I've never seen one of these before, but it's a beauty. It seems like critical focus is on the body in front of the head. At a focal length of 600mm and an aperture of f/2.8, your DOF is minimal (maybe an inch). Judging by the amount of light evident in the photo, you might have considered stopping down a bit to get more DOF. It would help if you would post technichals on the photo. Still a very nice shot.

    Excellent looking bird and and image. I agree that more DOF would have gotten you more detail and put this over the top.
