    Default 1DX at ISO 6400

This is another GGO image from Ottawa with Dan. Sun was already down but the last rays created a pinkish sky which I liked. the 1DX AF in low light is as superb as its high ISO performance. I had made images at ISO 6400 before but they never produced a printable or HD output. This is the first time I was able to make an image with avian IQ at this ISO.

Super results, Arash, with the high ISO. Love the way the owl pops against that BG and the symmetrical wing position.

Amazing! I assume Canon DPP for processing? I should start a thread elsewhere on best handling of noise, but it sounds like the camera gets some of the credit here. I have your ebook on NR and am curious if recent software updates have changed anything?

Arash, the images that you produce are outstanding - so this doesn't surprise me one bit!

    Nicely captured!

This, for me, is the best GGO image you have posted.
    Great light and superb IQ.

Thanks Diane, yes I exclusively use Canon DPP for RAW conversion which is the key to getting a clean, detailed output. I used exactly the same procedure explained in the guide. This kind of output is not possible with third-party software.

The 1DX full frame sensor is sure in a class of its own when it comes to high ISO performance. It really blows the MK4 out of the water at these ISOs.

Great flight shot! High quality image even when it's shot at ISO 6400, looks almost as if it was shot at ISO 800.

Out of curiosity, what was the highest ISO you were able to get usable HD quality photos from with the mkIV? I realize that shooting conditions and exposure play a big role but were you able to get reliably good photos at, say, 3200?

Also, really nice owl shot. Baited, yes?

MKIV can handle up to 3200 but only in certain conditions, with perfect exposure and delicate processing

    owl was baited.

Arash, the owl is great for sure, but you have posted similar great owl, so thar is not a surprise coming from you. The BG here is the killer though with that golden sweet light. Love it.

Pretty amazing ! I need to think through how to use DPP with my lightroom workflow....I have run them both ways and agree DPP does a great job..have not figured the most convenient way with the rest of my workflow....
