    Joel:

    The slow shutter speed gave an interesting 'painterly' effect the water, but perhaps a bit too much motion of the bill.

    I would also consider toning down the brightest white areas on the left.

    The curve of the neck and its incline in the frame is nice.

    Nice preening pose, the motion blur in the beak doesn't bother me too much. I find the background pulling my attention away, there's a couple bright spots and there appears the be a PP effect overlaid. I wouldn't think 1/80 would blur water that much. The relatively low noise for ISO 4000 is extremely impressive. The 1DX seems to be truly spectacular. You must have been shooting in the dark!
