Tampa Bay Cruiser
This white ibis was imaged two weeks ago while out with Capt. James on the Hooptie Deux, always my favorite birding stop in Florida. Thanks James.
D4 600VR with TC-14 f/5.6 1/2500s ISO 1600 tripod mounted, standing in Tampa Bay
Post: Crop for comp, selective sharpening, toned down some areas of whites with detail extractor

I like what you've done here, Randy. It's unique and it works. The layed BG is my favorite part of the image. You have lovely light and flight pose and did very well at ISO 1600. The red on the beak is looking a bit too bright/light. I tried darkening it a little and it looks more natural.
Looks as though you and Capt. James had a good trip. Sorry I missed it.

Thanks for the comment. I did not do any saturation changes, straight out of the camera, but of course that doesn't insure accuracy. The ibis's were in great breeding colors that day. Some of the famous 'ball chinians" were spectacular (for ibis's at least)
It was a fun time as always with James.

I am not suggesting it needs saturation. I did a quick levels adjustment to make it darker and it looked more natural to my eyes.Originally Posted by Randy Stout

Beautiful shot. The ibises in south TX were getting that extreme red in the face also. I have a few shots with the same color--though mine weren't as beautifully lit and were lacking a nice background.
Randy, the far wing appeared to be softer on my macbook pro. The little showing of the feet bothers me a bit. Would have love to see more of the feet.

Exposed very well and lots of detail in this one Randy. I like the flight pose with the cupped wing position and the fact that we can see both the inner and outer wings. I also like the transitioning BG but might blend the dark spot below the bird. Well captured.

I had thought about the spot beneath the wings in the BG, so I appreciate that observation in particular.
The angle of bird in the frame is why the feet don't show, and I like his angle of approach, so if it was that angle or feet, I would lean towards the angle. Just needs to have longer legs I guess.
