    The light is lovely. Hunting pose of the owl, nice. I would crop from the top and left, if your iq will hold up. Also, the very dark shadows at the base of the reeds could be lightened. (I use Nik tonal contrast for that job) and the very bright reeds in the front burned in. All in all, a nice image of a great subject.

    Hi Jon, I like the overall perspective here - shows off the enviroment nicely. Lovely earthy colours to the image, the owl is well placed in the frame, and although I like the 'wider' aspect of the image, coming in from the left a touch wont harm.

    I like the hovering pose, strong environmental feel. I am OK with the crop, but would very lightly reduce the contrast of the dark areas mentioned by Grace to reduce its eye pulling power.

    Thanks for the comments everyone much appreciated. I will consider the dark patches, I have to confess I did not see them as a distraction just part of the scenery.

    Love the way the background colours compliment the plumage of the owl. Love the placements of the owl too.

    I like showing the environment and the hunting pose of the bird. I also like the warm colur and light, Jonathan.
