I posted the wings up version of this of this sequence a few months ago. Had fun setting up on this Phoebe as it went back and forth from a steel post to hunt flying insects. Hope you like it.

Such lovley wings and head turn is very nice, liking also the earthy color tones all through the image.

Please try to apply a bit more sharpen to the head region, it is the only thing that needs improving I think, the tail looks a bit sharper than the head as is

I forgot to add sharpening for the web, again. Did this help?

    Terrific!
Great wing pose and the head turn is wonderful.
Beautiful light as well and I am liking the earth tones.
The BG looks a bit pixelated and I would do another round of NR to the BG.
    A fine shot,
    Gail

Excellent pose...I the head angle is just absolutely perfect!! The additional sharpening of the repost does improve things.

Hi David, not easy to capture these inflight poses, so well done on that, and even better that you nailed the eye contact towards you - great HA. Love the complimentary BG, and agree a touch of NR on the BG will work. Yes, your repost has turned out much better. Well done.

Fantastic wing position, head angle, and BG. For small and fast birds, I would bump the ISO to 800 and go with 1/6400 or so.

    A striking small BIF photo!
The repost looks like you did a global sharpening?
The bird looks fine but you introduced some artifacts in the BG.
The OP has better IQ for me.
Really nice work getting this though, Excellent pose.

What a lovely wing position! I love how the back wing is separated from the front. You might expect it to be darker but here it is a nice surprise.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I will try that Doug. Dan, I only sharpened the bird but I was lazy and sharpened the JPEG copy, then made a copy which sometimes makes things pixelated on certain BGs
