Love the low angle, calm water and detail. I'd darken the mid tones a bit.

Lovely subject, Karl. The reds of the eye are blown and need to be toned down. I would also agree with Alan on darkening the mid-tones.

    Thanks, Alan.
I darkened the mid tone but only for the bird as I wasn't sure if you wanted me to darken the whole image.

Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it.
However, I did not find any point which was blown so there was no need to tone it down. The original image in fact was underexposed.

Love the low angle, sharpness and details in this. Nice pose of the bird as well. I like the darken mid tone version as it make the bird more stand out from the background. For me I like a little more room on the left side.

Another lovely image of this species, Karl - I agree about a bit more space for the bird to swim into...

Nice shot of this Grebe Karl. I like the darkened version. Great details and I love the red eye. The high key BG makes the subject stand out nicely. Well done

nice light details and low angle, the repost is an improvement but still somewhat washed out.

Nice one Karl, liking the high key look as a contrast to the birds colors, and like the little bow wave as well, to me the eye looks a bit rich in color and almost luminous = perhaps that's natural. I find the white is a bit wasted on top and would suggest crop a little from the top { about 1/2 inch }and add a little to the left

    Hi Karl,
Nice low POV and agree that the repost is better. I wonder if a bit more sharpening would help.
