This is another image from yesterday. It wasn't the best lighting so I'm not overly happy with the image but I would really appreciate comments and feedback. Perhaps I'm being over critical of myself. Post processed in LR4 and PSE10.

Beautiful duck, one I have yet to see here. A lower shooting angle may have produced a nicer effect on the water.

Thanks, yes agree about the lower shooting angle. Unfortunately it wasn't possible at this location which was a shame.

Yes, too bad you could not get lower. Nice job on the exposure but seems like it would benefit further from a little brightening and livening up.

My favorite pose for duck portraits like this is to have the body parallel to the sensor and a slight head turn toward the camera.
Having the whole body angled toward you like this one also works but it just doesn't have the same connection and impact IMO. You also end up losing some DOF toward the tail.

Aside from shooting angle the detail/sharpness is there and great bold colored eye as well

Good exposure control and great eye contact. Lower for me too.

Nice exposure with good details and sharpness. Sometimes I see a shot with higher view point but with interesting reflection in the water, like colorful reflection, those look amazing too. Since you cannot get lower, maybe you can go for that type of shot.
