Lower Cascade Falls

This was the first of several stops in parks with waterfalls. In this case, it was at Hanging Rock State Park in North Carolina. We'd traveled all day to get to the park. I wish we could've spent another hour or so, there, but right after I took the shots for this image, we were escorted out by a pair of rangers because the park was about to close.

Nkon D3S, ISO 200, f/22, three-exposure HDR at 1 EV intervals, zoom at 17mm

• cropped substantially at the bottom and slightly on top and left for composition
• Topaz Simplify -- Watercolor II, masked
• Photo Filter adjustment layers -- Underwater masked to reveal over water, Warming 85 masked off water and sky
• Redfield Fractalius -- 3 masked B&W layers at Multiply blend mode (one of them used as a uniform gradient vignette)
• textures -- 2 from Joel Ives, masked off water and sky
• Alien Skin Snap Art -- Stylize Line Art B&W, masked, one at Multiply blend mode, the other at Divide

Beautiful effect and very nice underlying composition. Thanks for explaining your workflow. My only nit is the tan object in the water just below the branches hanging over the water in the bottom right third of the image, my eye keeps going to it. Maybe it's me...see what others have to say. Either way great job!!

Another fabulous image with your magic workflow! Love all the lines and layers of soft browns & greens brought together with the very smooth, perfectly brighter blue of the water, flowing in, around and out the image.

Nice image and application, Dennis.

Too bad that rock isn't a little larger and have some Fract lines on it. I like it, but agree it isn't really defined as shown. Otherwise the effects of the image are great.
