Beautiful and intense photo. I note slight softness in the nose and front of the mouth but given the distance between those great eyes and the nose, I'm not surprised. Perhaps stopping down a bit more would have helped but I notice you took this hand-held so you probably needed the 1/250 shutter speed. Regard the above as a minor point. It's a really fine photograph.
Great looking dog and love those ears !!!! With the clean ISO from your Mk3 would go for more ISO Hand holding at that slow shutter speed is not all that healthy !!! Would also have sacrificed the dof and tried f4.0 At 1600 f 4.0 you would have had 1/1000 sec. If need be will go even more with the ISO My good friend Chas always say noise is better than soft !!!! Have to agree with him !!!
Lovely animal , must have been awesome experience .... agree with above comments about softness.. thanks for sharing.
An intense image, Ken. The softness has been mentioned. You might try a tight vertical crop to further emphasize the face and ears. I'm not a fan of the plant on the right - if it was mine, I would crop/clone it out.
Nits covered. I love the big ears and the stare that gives this image a powerful feel.
Hi Ken, I will agree and disagree with Alfred......as the dog was pretty close......I would definitely agree with upping the ISO to 1250 at least.......and maybe dropping it down to 1/200 sec........and putting all that into DOF at f8. The Mark 3 does extremely well at the high ISO's......and if you get some noise (usually in the dark areas)......you can use noise reduction software to get rid of most of it in post processing. Worth a shot,
Roman
I think slightly increasing the contrast and reducing brightness would improve apparent sharpness. The green pastel background sets off those terrific ears nicely.
