    Default Horned Grebe calling

Taken this last weekend, same location as was posted by Karl. We were lucky to have three of these little guys pose for us for about 5 minutes.

Lovely calm water. Wish I could see all of the reflection, if there isn't junk in the way.

I really like the soft diffuse light and the calling pose.
Excellent IQ as well and nice low POV.
There is a nice softness to the water.
I find that the eye looks funny-almost gelatinous or jelly like in texture. Perhaps this is the way it looks...?
All in all, a very nice shot,

Nice low angle, calm water and the open bill adds a lot.

I love how flat it is where the bird meets the water. Nice open bill and calm, blue water. Fine job.

Great picture, nice deep shooting position and great eye contact.

Beautiful bird, a lovely soft background, and nice feather detail. I love the red eye and the open beak.

The red eye looks good against the blue water. I also like the colours starting to show on the flanks. Neat calling pose. Was audio used to lure it closer?

Thanks everyone for your comments and support. I had my calls with me but didn't use it for this shot since it just popped up out of nowhere. At one point there were 3 Grebes no more than 30ft from us and they posed for at least 5 mins.
