I had a chance to get out this afternoon with a new lens. Shot using the 1DIV, 600 + 1.4, ISO 640, 1/2500, f/8.0. Used tripod and gimbal head. Think I still have some tweaking to do but am pleased with this shot. C&C greatly appreciated.

    I love it!!

I'd think about a little off the top. Nothing is happening up there.

    Maybe a little warmer?

You have to love those green cormie eyes! Techs look good - congrats on the new glass! I think I agree about slicing some off the top, but your watermark is a bit dominating and the balance issues may be related to that. You might consider re-working your watermark so it doesn't overpower your image.

Reworked the crop. Still can't decide what I want to do with my watermark at this time.

I'm very conflicted about watermarks. Whereas I recognize their utility, they often impose on a good image. I don't use them presently, but probably should. I don't think they do anything to protect an image - they are easily removed. I lean towards small, unobtrusive ones that have a fine script appearance rather than bold block-letters. I also prefer them when they are similar tonality to the BG (i.e. dark on a dark BG or light on a light BG). I haven't searched the archive, but I wonder if there hasn't been a discussion of them here previously.

Nice and sharp and those eyes stand out well, detail on the blacks is nicely handled as well....personally I find the cropped version a bit too much off the top and prefer the original

A crop halfway in between the two versions would be what I was thinking.
