Yesterday morning I watched this little dowitcher walk through the mud and with that familiar "sewing machine" motion search for food. It got lucky and I did too. This particular catch did not give up easily. I made a 30% crop and some other adjustments in LR4.

Nice action shot presented. The plumage looks nice and colourful. The head area could use some extra sharpening.

Very nice capture. Agree it may need a tad more sharpening but very nice image.

Great catch -- for both of you!

This is another one where I long to see more reflection, if you have it, or less, if not. It seems awkward cut in half.

Diane, thanks . . . I had no more reflection (the bottom of my image is not cropped) . . . and I left that much because I wanted the complete reflection of the worm to be visible . . .

Great catch! By both of you. Your timing was excellent. Love the transitioning plumage on the dowitcher. The reflection does not add much here imo. A consideration could be trimming at least the reflected body of the bird, while retaining most of the reflected legs. Also please consider applying more sharpening to the subject. A lower shooting angle might have really taken this image to the next level...
