    Short toed Eagle (Snake Eagle)

A visitor to the meadow here in Ourique; came from nowhere, left for somewhere.
    I will wait his return.

Lovely shot Richard. I've never seen one of these guys before and I think you've done a great shot of showing one off for us.

Looking forward to some more from your next outing. Hope he shows up again!

A very unique shot Richard and I like it. I like that you can barely view eyes on this owl but you do. Great wing spread

    Thanks Cheryl and Miguel

Note, not an Owl. Short-toed Snake Eagle (Circaetus gallicus) in Light phase, a rare bird across most of its range, though quite common in Spain.
It has an impressive wingspan of up to 6 feet! While observing in my patch I have seen a couple but to have one pass over ones head is nice.
As I can appreciate some will not favour the way the OP is processed I am posting a more conventional version.

Looks like a difficult subject to get right with exposure but this has worked nicely, still quite distinct from the white out sky and liking the light through the wings and tail

Congrats for capturing this rare bird. I love the high key look and feel of this image, the wing spread and tail feather are nice. Exposure looks good.

Hi Richard, great underside view of this species. Im not familiar with this eagle, so cant comment on your processing with regards to the colours in each post, but still well captured.
