    Default Red-browed Finch

    Another image from my walk 2 days ago, this one a Red-browed Finch, reasonably common here and this one and a few others were actively collecting grass etc for nesting material...no idea where that nest is however.

    Canon 7D + 500 f4.....f5. 1/1250, ISO 2500, no flash, manual exposure, tripod mounted, playback of another bird used to attract this one....cropped for vertical comp, selective sharpen and backdrop noise reduction.

    { must say I've been using manual exposure rather than Aperture Priority lately with very pleasing high ISO results as is the case with this image }

    Like everything about this one Phil. Great pose, beautiful bird, excellent sharpness, and a nice BG. The 7D is perfectly capable of quality high-ISO frames, as you and Daniel Cadieux have demonstrated!

    Phil, this is just perfect. Love the pose, the light, the detail, the perch, the bg. But my favorite part is the harmony in the colors. And you successfully pushed the 7D to it's limit. Great work and hats off.

    A-ha...I knew you would be able to push the 7D to greater heights!! Beautiful bird, tastefully presented. Nice vertical comp. Some of the reds on the head look near clipped...you can try selectively adding some cyan to those. Suoper nice!

    Hey Phil,
    Super pose and BG. Before I read anyone else's comments.....I thought the reds on the head were clipped. Easy fix to a fine image!

    Really impressive IQ at ISO 2500.
    Love the colors in this one.Great comp and pose.
    I find the reds a tad hot and would adjust those.

    Phil, what a beautiful bird! Excellent details in feathers and love perch and body angle in complementing diagonal shape...7D is surely capable of producing great images at high ISO if you get the exposure right...Well done.

    nice pose and good details, the broken part of the perch is distracting and the red channel is blown.
