    Default Oystercatchers at Barnegat

Have been in NJ this week working on my hurricane-damaged house and, since I'm almost finished with the work for this trip, took a short drive up to LBI and walked out on Barnegat Jetty. It's been dark clouds with some rain every afternoon this week.

    Ian,

Love it as presented. Very unique perspective and just a cool find. As Kerry always says "simple elements make a great picture". Jay Masiel says "show us something different, that alone is justification for a picture". The exposure techs are nice (maybe a few hot pixels) but on balance,...really like this one. I love it and must have looked at it for 5 minutes,..really nice Ian. Let's see what others say, I was thinking maybe a bit off the left side,..but that's subjective.

I am sorry to hear about the house, hope all turns out well and we sure appreciate the time you take to share your work,..it is really good!

Very nice shot of "nature" Ian. I think you did really well with the techs and echo Jeff's sentiments about your house. Glad you were able to take off a little while and enjoy yourself. :)

Thanks, folks. I walked out on the jetty looking for harlequin ducks, but saw none. A bit of commotion about these rocks caught my attention with about a half-dozen oystercatchers.

Thank you for the wishes. I bought my little beach house before I moved to Phoenix when I lived in Philadelphia. The inside was essentially destroyed by the stormn-- I've spent the last weekcleaning, ripping out the remaining sheetrock (I started the job in November), and preparing it for renovating. I feel fortunate - it was a shore escape and not my home. I have friends who lost everything.

Super behavior you were able to capture here. I live in Florida and still haven't managed a good photo of the mating. You were even able to make the angle look good. I am seeing quite a bit of noise in your image and some IQ issues in the birds' heads. Was this a large crop by any chance?

Thanks, Marina. Not a huge crop, but probably a tad underexposed. I need to go back through and work on it a bit.
