I am still very new in avian photography and in birding world. Photo below was an inspiration from Arthur Morris and Denise Ippolito tutorial about "Learning to Create Pleasing Blurs". It was taken in our RSPB marsh in Titchwell, Norfolk. I am using Canon 5D3, EF500mm IS, tripod, 1/20 sec, f/32, ISO 100, manual exposure. Photo is processed in CS6 ACR only with white balance adjusted, some contrast, clarity and default ACR sharpening.
Some comments and feedback are much appreciated, thank you.
Please ensure you read the posting rules at the top of the ETL forum, not sure why this image says moderator in the preface. Anyway, we will sort that later,..this is a really nice image and I can see Artie and Denise's influence - you did well here! The composition is well balanced and the water and habitat really work with the blurred subjects. The opportunities here are using a higher ISO (100 is very limiting) and the bottom edge is a bit out of balance with the frame, almost a tad distracting. Many photographers like clean edges to force the eye into the frame. Remember every picture needs harmony and the foreground always introduces the eye to the picture,..must have transition to the subject. Partial birds are alright, especially with this many just walk your eye around the edges /corners and blend and balance as needed. This is a very nice picture and a great moment in nature, thanks for sharing and keep em coming.
