    Default Black Vulture Portrait

I happen to like the Black Vulture, and that's a good thing considering Gatorland has quite a large colony. While they may not be the prettiest birds around, they do have a rather unique look and come in many different variations of head styles. This one was taken in early evening light, with the setting sun lighting up the otherwise dark features.

I like vultures too! Good job with the light. I would crop away about half the space at right, and then add some space at left as well as above. I'd also clone out the triangular shape LLC. I like the textures on the neck and face! :-)

Nice capture Mike. Terrific feather and head detail. I'd give it a little more room up top, clone out the triangle in the LLC, and perhaps desaturate the BG a little. Those colors tend to overpower the bird. How do you like this?

Very nice details in the bird, Mike, but agree on giving it ore space to breathe.
    Doug's repost looks good.

    Hey Mike,

Nice to see you posting. I have to agree with Doug but I think is too much room on top. You did an excellent job with the details in the blacks. I will be seeing you at Gatorland soon!

    Take care!

I like it Mike !! The re post by Dough sure looks good !!!

I think the point of focus is on the beak not the eye? The bg was far enough that you could have stopped down a bit Normally I will use the 2.8 wide open with closer bg clutter. Also find fill flash helpful for these images !!!!

Good pose The tendency is for tight head images !!!!
