I applied a little blur to the background. It looked good to begin with but some people might have thought that I
did some cloning as it looked naturally patchy.
I did not use flash. The perch is a broken branch of a pine tree.
    Thanks for looking.

    Karl:

The lighting is wonderful. Looks like fill from a big reflector. Snow?

Sharp, well exposed. I would ever so lightly clone stamp over the brightest area just below and left the bird, out to the frame edge, as it is bright enough to draw the eye away from the very nice subject.

    Cheers

Sweet little fella, sharp exposure looks good, love the feather detail on the chest, great background.

I really like this one Karl. Great light with the reflected light from below. Good sharpness and composition.

Thanks Randy. This is the beauty of photographing winter time.
The big reflector from below (snow) lightens up the subject pretty nice.

Beautiful Karl....a little piece of heaven captured with such dreamy soft color tones captured....excellent powdery backdrop.Sharp detail and interesting but not overpowering perch....to me this is 99 % perfect, only perceived imperfection that may be worth noting would be the rather large catch light in the eye

Very nice detail in the bird. Like the hint of snow on the perch, wish there was a little more. Maybe tone down the bright highlights a tad but BG otherwise nicely done.
