Hi Peter,

I'm not great at using flash, but I think you did a wonderful job of providing some very nice fill. The catchlight from the flash also adds to the image. The details and colors are wonderful, too.

I do wish we had a better head angle, or maybe a different angle between you and the hummer. Otherwise, it's a very nice capture.

Liking very much the pose and bright eye and subject isolation with smooth backdrop.

I do however think it looks quite over flashed and maybe over sharpened as the finer detail is not there and as a consequence looks too 2 dimensional, almost like it's superimposed upon the backdrop. There is also some evidence of halo showing on edges of bird and perch, There is also some evidence of jpeg artifacts{ blotchiness } in the backdrop

Striking image! I wonder if going with lower contrast early in the processing would address some of the concerns?

I'd think about darkening the left side of the perch (behind the bird).
