    Default Ocoee River

This was taken last fall on the Ocoee river the spot of the 1996 Atlanta summer Olympics, I liked the Image but didn't think it was strong enough by itself and have been looking to turn some of my photos into paintings, I think this image turn out pretty nice.Name: Ocoeeriverpainting.jpg

Nice landscape, Paul, and I think it looks awesome as a painting! Love the fall colors and the swirly look to the trees. What filter/s did you use in photoshop?

Paul, welcome to OOTB! You turned this into a lovely painting (I assume you used Oil Paint?). The colors are lovely as is the sense of motion in both the river and the wind in the trees. I hope to see more of your work here

Thank you for posting this. It made me take a look at the oil paint filter and discover what it can do. There's a lot of potential, there, for some great abstract effects.

I like what you captured but would be inclined to crop it differently -- mostly because of the bridge. It's a strong, unexpected element in a scene like this, so I'd want to compose to feature it. Cropping from the top and the right would move both the bridge, itself, and the vertical support out of the vertical and horizontal centers of the image and into more prominent locations. I'd crop from the top instead of the bottom because the energy and diagonals of the river contribute a lot to the appeal of the image.

Welcome Paul! I like your version as well as Dennis' version. Each conveys a slightly different message and feel. You did some lovely work with the Paint filter. As others wrote--the movement of the trees and water give this image a dynamic feel. What fun to rescue a photo you like but that isn't quite perfect.
