    Default Copper-rumped Hummingbird

Spent 2 weeks on Tobago and some of the time trying to get a decent shot of a hummingbird in flight. Here's one of my efforts. Handheld at 500mm

    Hi Kevin,

Well done to get such a sharp and nicely lit shot handheld at 500mm. The lighting must have been just right. Did you use any supplememtary flash? Good plain bg. My personal preference is always to include a bit of habitat to give context to the bird, but if the only habitat available was a feeder, then it's probably better without. I know not everyone here would agree with me. Nice to have caught the tongue extended.

Lovely iridescence you got here, and I like the outstretched wing. I see where Richard is coming from in regards to habitat (or flower)...I think it is because the tongue is sticking out which implies that it was feeding on something close.

Impressive freeze, the details are fantastic and i love the small feet that are on view, the colors look good.

Thanks for the replies. Yes it was at a feeder so I had to crop that out as I thought it spoilt the shot. This was only natural light and no flash.
