    Default Lesser redpoll

    Taken from garden hide. Tripod head Canon 7D Canon 500mm f4 l IS & 1.4TC ISO 250 1/500 sec f8.
A first time garden visitor for me and in fact only the second time I have photographed lesser redpolls, and I blew it!!
    • I think this is a little large in the frame, this is for two reasons one if which I am ashamed to admit! I could have added canvas - maybe I did, if I did, why not more?
    • Any ideas what was going on?
    • What was the simple solution and it did not occur to me at the time?

I like so many things here,
The perch, lovely bg and the bird is sharp, even the details in the eye can be seen.
As i see it i feel that the eye of the bird crosses the centre point of the frame and hence i would like some more canvas on the right just to balance it a bit, however its just a composition taste i guess and very personal,
The image is lovely even as presented

simple and beautiful. nice detail and light. another interesting perch that I could even imagine seeing more of in the composition.

Why not shoot it as a vertical or rotate the image to a vertical?

Just lovely as is, wonderful eye on this and the very desirable fine detail, the cottony buds are a very nice addition as well.....composition in frame....I'd add a little more to bottom and right
