Default Green Jay basking in warm evening light

    Attached Images Attached Images

A basic bird on a stick image, but I liked the light and bg.

I had not finished setting up perches etc. yet when this guy popped and posed for me.

A bit of perch clean up.

For my 100th thread, I figured I'd post one of my favorite species.

Sid Congrats on the 100th thread, a wonderful image for it too
The yellow and light green are always colors one tends to do over in that type of light , you have managed them so perfectly, background compliments the bird pretty well
and the icing on the cake is the bird giving the head turn probably knowing it would be the 100th
Amazing exposure and a classic image over all

Beutiful image, Sidharth. I like the angle of the bird in the frame as well as the head angle. The colours are amazing.

You appear to have the bird in an ideal plane and the focus is spot on as is the exposure. An excellent image.
I hesitate to criticise as the image is so good but I would suggest a more interesting perch would enhance the image, as would just a hint of blotchiness (is there such a word?) in the background.

I love green jays too, and you sure got a nice shot of one! My only suggestion would be to burn the blues a bit. They seem really light on my monitor. Beautiful!

Green Jays are really cool, and you've done a great job of capturing this bird. I do agree with Jeannean about the blues.

Thanks for all the feedback folks.

Jon, agree on the perch. The plan was to setup my own perches. This guy appeared before I had a chance to do that. These are sneaky buggers and didn't easily pose like this. Given the light and the bg, I took it.

Jeannean, Doug - good call on the blues. Fixed.

Nothing wrong with a well done basic bird on a stick image, and this one looks pretty darn good. Evrythnig looks great to me, and here's to another 100 threads!!

Beautiful bird, very clean background, good pose and head angle and maybe a basic bird on the stick image, but looks pretty good. I have these guys in my backyard and I can't get them to come down to ground level. Maybe too many cats roaming around the gardens....:-)

Well done and congrats for the 100th.
