Welcome to ETL, Craig. It's great to see you posting, and what an awesome species you have started out with. Exposure and colors look great here. I find your Gallinule a little too centered here, so I have shared a proposed recrop taking canvas off of the right and bottom and a tad off of the left. This way he is walking into the frame rather than out of the frame. You did a good job capturing the bird in it's environment. I also gave your bird a little more sharpening. You don't have to agree with my crop, but I'd be interested to hear your opinion.

It was great meeting and photographing with you last week!!!

    Marina,

I think your right it is too centered and it does benefit from your crop suggestions. I need to learn more about the sharpening feature, so thank you for that suggestion. Great meeting you, Jeff and Roman last week!

Hi Craig, and welcome to the forum! Lots of helpful folks here. I love purple Gallinules! Such pretty birds. I like what Marina did with the crop and sharpening. I also like the lily pads for the environment (much prettier than dried out sticks and muck I usually see them in). It would be helpful to know what your photo specs are. To me, this is a bit oversaturated, so if you were shooting in a jpeg camera mode, that might explain it. You can reduce the saturation and or vibrance and this might do the trick. I did a quick edit of your OP and checked for clipping. I reduced the vibrance/saturation until the yellow channel was not clipped. There are other ways to do this too, but this is a quick one. :) Hope to see more of your work!
