    Super pose captured here, the exposure looks spot on with good details on the bird. A very unconventional pose but i like it all the way.
    There appears some noise in the BG may be it will enhance the image more if some amount of NR is done on BG.

    Thank you. I looked again and I agree that I could use some more NR. I'm too excited about using my new 500 and overlooked the old stuff!

    Hi Ian, love the display, symmetrical wings, and good DOF on the avocet. A difficult comp to compose due to the pose, but I would have gone with a traditional landscape, placing the bird in the center. Im finding your comp a bit too squarish - just a personal thing.

    Very cool behavioral image! Agree with the noise in the BG, and I see some on the bird too. I think that the vertical crop accentuates the pose nicely, but I would be curious how a landscape crop would look. Do you have room for a more traditional portrait crop (2:3 or 3:4)?
