1/2000
f/4
ISO 100
I think I should have raised the ISO to increase the SS even more to get the head sharp. Sorry the light was harsh but I got a good low angle head-on with the bird. C & C welcome.
I like the picture, original behavior and the image has plenty of action. You are correct on the ISO, I would never use 100 and rarely use less that 400, too limiting and one tradeoff as you mentioned is the shutter speed.
Great low angle,.. this is no small deal the low angle makes this picture work (the eye is at a perfect level) and your field technique was spot-on. Speaking of the eye, might add some light, wonderful things happen with a well lit clean eye. A bit tight for me, if you have the canvas experiment with moving the subject out of the center (more to the left) and adding more on the right.
Remember, adding more room for the subjects(s) to breath also gives the frame balance,.. give them room to move in and out of the frame - you continue to improve,..keep em coming.

Love the action you captured here. The water splashing is great. Whites look pretty good although light appears to have been harsh. I think I'd like to see this with a looser crop.
Wonderful action! The water and bird are very sharp for f/4. Looks like the shutter speed was enough to stop the important action. A little more DOF is always a good hedge if the BG permits.
I'd be tempted to remove the white circle right above the bird's head, but that's a very minor complaint.
