    Default Lake Superior Red Knot

    Attached Images Attached Images

The red knot is a difficult shorebird to find inland in North America, but there are a few weeks in May/June
when they can be found around the Great Lakes in scattered locations. This one was photographed early
in June in Minnesota. Full frame side to side, cropped from the top and bottom. SonyA300, Tokina80-400,
iso400, f10, 1/400, selective USM. Comments and critiques welcome. (Image made near sunset).
    Regards,
    Shawn Zierman.

Very nice Shawn. I like the pose on this one and the HA is about perfect. Great job on the exposure and the feather detail is wonderful. The wave breaking behind the bird adds allot to the overall scene and the pano crop looks great. A very appealing shot.

    Shawn,
What a impressive image, the color is so nicely reproduced , the water is so beautiful all around making it go over the top.

We get the Great knots as migrants here but never the red.

    Very nicely done

Super subject, the breaking wave and the eye contact pull me right in to the photograph. I'm not totally in love with the pano comp as the space on the left as viewed doesn't add interest to me, and I long for a bit more up top. Also, I'd sharpen the knot a bit more. Of course, composition is personal, so just my opinion.

Pose, colours details are excellent. Nice soft even light and the water looks good in the background and around the bird. Excellent low angle shot, Shawn.

I also think some off the left would look nice,
The bird looks great and the wave is killer!

I'm really digging the wave movement at lower right...way cool! Perfect head angle and I like the foot rising out of the water. Awesome details. I too would like a bit more room above, not much more needed but feels a tad cramped up there.

The bird looks terrific and I love the stretched neck and the head angle. Perfect light and POV. The wave behind the bird really adds interset.
I am not loving this comp.
I would add more up top and maybe a bit off LHS,
