I toned down the whites with a multiply layer even though they didn't look blown on the histogram. Perhaps I overdid the red in color-balance. Critiques welcome.

Very nice Susan! Can't tell about the whites sure. I might consider another round of USM and also toning down the upper right corner.

Great timing Susan and the branch is a lovely bonus in this image.. Well composed and good eye contact. The leaves in the corner could be toned down a bit but great as is. thanks for sharing.

Nice action and I like the wing position, the whites are not blown but they are bright compared to the rest of the image I would tone them down using curves and a layer mask.

Excellent Susan I like the wing position a lot and the position of the bird over the shore Would darken the corner as suggested by Judy One area you don't want to be light Color balance wise does look good you did not go over !!! I like it a lot !!!

    Hi Susan,
Possible improvements mentioned............Debating the stick sticking out other side........I would have like to have seen more of it (out of your control).......so I'm leaning towards get rid of it??? Let's see if anybody else thinks this.
    Grat wing position and story,

I like it as is. The stick on the upper wing edge adds continuity. It would be better if it were longer, but I like it as is. Color is super.
