    I shot this last week using the 1DIV, 300 + 2X TC, ISO 800, F/8.0, 1/2000. C&C greatly appreciated.

Super composition with nice details. Good and subtle use of flash, although I am finding your whites a bit muddy. I would increase your whites and I think you'll find this image even stronger.

I went back to this one and made some adjustments to the "whites". I think this looks a bit brighter. Any thoughts/opinions?

I think the repost addresses the brightness, but now it has lost a lot of fine detail, I'd hope for a bit more eye contact with the photographer and apply some noise reduction to the backdrop to smooth out the grainiess

This lovely portrait image might profit from Nik CEP4's Detail Extractor to bring out detail in the whites. It is an amazing tool.

I always do what I can in the raw conversion first, of course. If you're using LR4 or PS CS6, reducing the Highlights, bringing up the Whites, then some Clarity can help.

This is a nice portrait with anice clean bg. I also would suggest noise reduction in the bg and feel although the brights look better the image lacks some depth. Maybe darkening the rest of the image not including the whites would help or even burning in the shadows a little for more contrast.
