Red-Eye Strikes Again

Not a lot of blurs I can work on and this was the only subject I found out there and he wasn't moving.

I used Topaz Clean on the image, which because of the lighting that day was devoid of color. I used the red color from my past post of the Grebe for the eye and painted it over the existing color..

I realize the rabbit is centered, don't know why, my eye just likes the subject centered....I did quite a bit of cloning to remove twigs and branches, which were covering the Snowshoe Hare. I left the surrounding branches, again my personal preference for leaving some of the habitat.

In your opinion which one works better with or without twigs?

Nice, Paul. I've never seen one. I think if it were mine, I'd remove the twig that intersects with his head and leave the back end as shot. He blends in so wonderfully with the habitat, I like him a little covered up

I like this -- red eye, and all. When I look at it, the rabbit really isn't centered -- at least in terms of its visual mass. My eye goes to the ears and red eye, so that makes it seem left and above center.

As for the twigs, or not, I think I pretty much agree with Maureen on a combination of the two -- something like this . . .

(I used a soft brush and shortened some of the twigs toward the rear.)

What a pretty bunny! As for the twigs, I am torn between the cleaner image and Dennis' repost. I think in the repost that one twig that intersects it's hind end should be cloned back in to intersect where it naturally was, and maybe lightened. It doesn't seem to centered to me either. Nice job.

Very nice shot, Paul. I like the red eye and the surrounding branches that frame the hare. Like Jeanean, I'm torn between the "clean" image and Dennis' repost. They both look good. Personally I don't like it so centered, so I would crop about half an inch from the right hand side.

Hi Paul, lovely bunny...I agree on the branch in front being removed and leaving the small twig near the back as is, but I think I would evict the larger out-of-focus branch near the back side also.

Hi, Paul, I love the red-eyed bunny and the Topaz Clean effect on the fur. I love the OP and would like Dennis' repost without the twig in front of the bunny's nose (in the background).
I especially like the diagonal on the snow. Beautifully done

There are several ways those twigs can be approached. I like the OP with its very minimalist approach. The soft whites and soft smudgy grays are great. The red eye and a bit of fine detail in the whiskers, ears and fur are just the perfect touch. With the hare on the diagonal and the strong lines in the image, there is no sense of the rabbit "being centered".

Lovely image. I like your first image, as well as the one posted by Dennis (perhaps the best compromise). Like them all though.
