Pose, light, IQ, eye contact - all extra good. Nice work Jon.
Top right of the frame has a small line that needs to be filled.

Apart from that s,mall white line top of the frame this is about as good as they come Jonathon. Loots to like with this one.....perfect profile with even focus all over the bird, super fine detail and lovely eye clarity and contact with photographer, perch is very interesting with the lichen and is a perfect size to compliment the bird, the light is picking up the perch nicely too. Background is smooth and doesn't compete with main subject, subtle tones work nicely with a relatively plain bird....dare I say it.....lovely earthy colors

I like the subdued tones to this one, although it could maybe stand a slight brightness tweak also for a different look

Phil analized it thoroughly and rightly. All I can add to it, that it is a striking image.

Nice looking bird, perch and BG.
I might try to darken the light areas of the BG to match the dark areas.

I like this alot Jonathan. Awesome details, great perch. I could see a version with a bit cropped off the top. About that line in top right corner...did you add some canvas?

I really like this photo, Jon. Had the sun been a bit lower it would have made it that much better....but I wouldn't worry about that as it's a fine image as is.

Thanks for the comments everyone, much appreciated. A bit of carelessness in the top right corner, I usually double check but missed this one! The feeder was in front of the bird so I cloned it out and patched here and there, I then re cropped and moved the bird over to the right so I actually added canvas, I filled that in using content aware. The image is more or less full frame, just slightly repositioned. I did brush over the background a little to even out the colour but I deliberately left some areas a little paler in order to retain a little of the originality, the background is the far garden fence, it has algae, mosses etc on it.
