    Question Canon CPS Questions

I was looking at the CPS site for Canon. I have a few questions that I didn't
    immediately see the answers for.

    1. Eligible camera bodies - I have the 1D Mark III which is 6 points. Does that
ever go down, for example as a body gets older, it gets reduced to 4 points?

    2. Assuming the answer to #1 is yes and I fall below the points requirement for
a level, will I still be able to renew or will I have to find a way to get those points
    back up?

    3. The Gold and Platinum has a YES for Event and Show Support. What exactly
    is that?

    Thanks
    Doug

    Hi Doug,

    1) yup, older bodies loses point with time and at some point drops out of the list I think lenses don't lose points even if a new version comes out

    2) you need to buy new gear so that you stay above the minimum.

    3) Event support is on-site support for major media events, like super bowl, Nascar, etc. They will clean and repair your camera on-site.

You don't have to necessarily buy new gear b/c if you have enough of it, as I do, it doesn't have to be new. You can list your equipment in their on-line questionnaire before actually signing up and paying, and it will tell you how many points you have and what you qualify for. From there, you can make an informed decision.

You will receive an e-mail with information on when and where for the Canon events, and you are entitled to the on-site service as long as you are a gold or platinum member.
