There are lots of juvenile night herons around right now. This one was willing to sit for a portrait. Late afternoon sun.

Nice portrait pose. Great detail in the bird.
Kerry:
Well exposed, great eye, nice detail on head and bill.
in a perfect world, a bit more DOF to keep the shoulder sharp would have been nice, and you had room to adjust your f/stop to help. Perhaps there was flying or other fast paced action you were set up for?
Cheers
Randy
Excellent detail, the eye is awesome as is the BG.
Killer eye, I agree about the shoulder, just a tad more DOF would have been nice,

Great sharpness and good light angle. The eye, lore, and bill are stunning. Well done.
Thanks for your comments! Randy, with this lens, which does not have IS, I am always going for the fastest shutter speed possible when hand-holding. I agree that more DOF would have been nice!
