    Default Young and innocent

I really liked the Black Vultures in Florida. This young one is from Myakka State Park in sw. FL. I'm always ready to capture a gape like this but I'm not always successful.

I cropped, cleaned up the bill a little and sharpened. I like the blue sky in the eye and accentuated this a little with some selective saturation there.

John, great detail, excellent techs. I really like the open mouth & the visible tongue is cool raised to the third power. Sky in the eye is neat too. TFS.

Very nice portrait of one ugly bird. I guess like humans, they can't all be pretty. You did make it look attractive though! Nice details all through it.

John, Beautiful image of a face only a mother could love. Great detail in the blacks. I was wondering if the inside of the mouth could go a littler redder or was it that colour.

    Thanks everyone!

To be honest Roy I can't remember the colour of the inside of the mouth. I think it was approximately as shown but hey, let's see with some saturation boost to that area, done in LAB colour!

John, like the repost with more saturation. I've never seen the inside of a Black Vultures mouth either but most birds of prey's mouths are more red.

Good one John. I like the detail and exposure with the light background. I think I like the extra saturation on the mouth. Did you lose any weather stripping on your car?

    Thanks everyone!

No Kerry, no problem with the car. Most of the Black Vultures were roosting on a bridge a little way from the main parking area. They were surprisingly skittish and we had to approach them slowly. Would love to got Turkey Vultures in the same situation but they seem much more skittish than the Blacks.

Great image John with wonderful detail throughout. The detail in the eye was the first thing my eye went to when I opened your image. Great work.
