Default Weekly Theme - Peacock Blur (C)

Well, as I was warned, blurs are addictive. I went to the Bronx Zoo this week to test out a new lens and they have peacocks running around especially near the restaurant. So I decided to play with a few blurs of the feathers.

    Canon 5D3
    300 2.8 II
    0.3
    f22
    ISO 100
Cropped for comp, levels, curves, contrast boost, Hougaard Malan action and resized in CS6.

    C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks,

    Rachel

Rachel, the fun part of blurs is you can do them anywhere on anything with any lens. I do them with my 100-400 all the time. I really like the colors and the fact that you can see the eyes. There are a couple of dust spots you might want to clean up. I hope you keep on doing them!

Rachel, Love the abstract, graphic quality that this blur has. Also, seeing the etched movement is intriguing. Well done!

Yes, they are big fun and definitely addicting. I like the subject you picked, nice colors and detail. Good diagonal motion too!

Blurred peacock feathers . . . What a sharp idea. I'd have never thought of it, but the result is great. I really like the colors, the diagonal, and the amount of blur. Having some of the feathers aligned with the blur and others not is very effective.

Excellent! Love the colors and the great lines. Well done that the eyes are easily seen.

A beautiful blur, Rachel! Love the colors, and I like how the feather details show through the blur.

Really nice idea on this one. It works well in my opinion, the lines created by the pan bring this alive. Nice job!

Great work, Rachel! Beautiful greens and the spots show nicely. I am not familiar with the Hougaard Malan action? Have to google it!

Thanks everyone. Dan-the Hougaard Malan action I used is just a contrast enhancement action. Morkel posted links to it and some others in the Landscape Forum.

    Thanks again,
    Rachel
