Another beauty of an image Arash. The eye contact is engaging. The falling snow is perfect.
I could see a slightly different version comp. wise, where the owl would be more centered...

I was going to ask the same question about the beak ; )

great image. Lots of detail and love the pastel colours. Clean background with the snow falling and the GGO's intense stare, makes this pic for me!

Lovely portrait. Wish the DOF was uniform across the perch.

Hi Ari, I cant believe how you guys achieve such great eye conact - are you holding the bait above your head. Love the hint of orange on the tip of the bill, and yes, the falling snow adds. Im fine with the comp as is.

Lots of character to that perch. Snow falling was a nice bonus that morning. Neat BG and good vertical comp, but yes I too could see a version with the owl more centered (although I like it as is too).

I love the image and the comp as it is. The slight lean of the own to the right justifies the extra space of the right, and the interesting feature on the branch at the right edge helps fill the space there.

    Beautiful!

Love the overcast light and the snow. The comp works very well and the blood on the beak is a nice plus. Very well done!

Thanks Arash. Love the pose and the stare and the blood on the bill tip. Why such a high shutter speed and ISO? You could have made this sharp at 1/320 sec. at ISO 500 (if mt math is correct)? Maybe you were shivering from the cold....

Thanks Artie, I was setup for flight...there was some wind so 1/320 sec would not give the pixel sharpness I like in my RAW.

BTW ISO 2000 is not high for 1DX. With the 1DX there is no reason to lower ISO, I have set my minimum selectable ISO to 800 and max to 6400, won't even think about going below 800 as there is no advantage in noise. I posted an ISO 5000 image and just printed 30" tall. Looks amazing!!! love this camera!

    Excellent image Arash,
I would not change a thing except maybe a bit more room all around.
The blood on the beak adds drama to this still shot.

Lots of great shots captured in Ottawa Arash. This one really makes for a great mood. The alert pose and the falling snow make for a cool looking scene. Nice work, again.

    Stunning image!!!
Excellent pose, love the small amount of blood on the beak, terrific perch, and the snow falling puts it over the top.
    Very well done.
