    Default American Avocet

    Attached Images Attached Images

Taken last summer just after breeding season at a local wildlife reserve. Had a great spot that I would park my truck at and wait for Avocets and Stilts to fly by.

Thanks as always for looking and for your input. Appreciated

very cool pose and light, the breeding plumage adds a lot here. wish the beak had not merged with the wing. good work TFS

Can I come and sit in your truck with you?!
I really like the BG and the streaks of blue water in the rlc.
IQ is excellent as is the exposure. Whites are perfectly exposed.
I like the shadow of the beak on the wing but wish the tip of the bill had cleared the wing,
    Gail

A lovely image, David. I like the diagonal presented by the wings. Sharply focused, and the whites are very well exposed. While the BG color is not particularly attractive, it complements the avocet's coloration nicely. I love the long dangling legs/feet. Very nice!

Great BIF image, David. Love the shooting angle and pose. I always admire people who are capable of swinging a big lens from the window as I never managed to.
    One of the reasons I keep a 400 f5.6 L.

A very pleasing image indeed! Wonderful exposure, and very nice colors throughout. BG nicely compliments the colors in the plumage, too.

Not much you can do about the bill merging with the rear wing, but would have been nice to not have that.

Excellent pose with that fanned tail. The bird is angled perfectly and I like the placement in the frame.
    Avocets are such cool birds.

Very nice comp and great landing pose, despite the wing/beak lap, a very fine shot I would be happy to have.

Beautiful image -- lovely soft light and flight position. I like everything about it except the bill merge. I would love to get some images of avocets and stilts some day.
