This is an image of a scene often seen in the Rietvlei Nature Reserve in South Africa - though capturing it has always eluded me. Wrong light, too far from me, etc...

Cattle Egret perched on the back of a Plains Zebra. These egrets love to hang around the big grazers and gorge on the insects they disturb out of the grass as they graze.

    Nikkor 500mm f4 VR-II
    f5.6 | 1/1000 SS | ISO-200

Looks good considering the sun is shining on parts of the bird and zebra back. Whites look good, fine detail on the zebra.

This image made me smile as I scrolled down. Very well composed Morkel. Guess all the cattle butts were taken LOL.

Nice one Morkel, not the usual perch we see , all the techs look good....wonder if the Egret threw in a complimentary back scratch with the perch deal ?
